FAQs

WHAT IS BGH?

Building God’s House or BGH is the name we have given to our church building program situated at 38 Lexton Road, Box Hill North. This property was purchased as a warehouse in 2010, paid for from the sale of 15 Ellingworth Parade. We’ve since completed Phase 1 of this program, which sees this property being used currently to house our FGAM staff, hold meetings as well as support a number of our community outreach programs.

WHAT IS PROJECT HOME RUN?

Project Home Run is Phase 2 of the BGH program which will see us moving in and holding our Sunday worship and other services and conferences in a permanent home.

WHEN WILL CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDING COMMENCE?

Since receiving our building permit in September, the project manager has been sourcing quotes to proceed with early works prior to Christmas 2016. This will include asbestos removal, demolition, structural steel work and re-roofing.

IS THERE ANY TAX DEDUCTIBILITY (DGR-DEDUCTIBLE GIFT RECIPIENT)
AVAILABLE FOR HOME RUN?

No, unfortunately not.

HOW MUCH WILL PROJECT HOME RUN COST?

The estimated cost of our latest building design (including fit out), which was submitted to the City of Whitehorse Council in May 2016, is approximately $3.3 million. This simplified design will house marginally fewer seats but will provide an additional meeting and function space. As part of the fundraising campaign that we undertook late last year, we managed to raise our target of $1 million in both outright gifts and pledges. However, we are continuing to drive fundraising activities so as to minimize our borrowings.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Be engaged throughout the process - pray, discuss, ask questions and most importantly, seek God’s will and voice. Work together as a household of FAITH, either within your family, home group, and/or ministries to brainstorm fundraising ideas and uncover creative opportunities within your networks. As you bear witness to God’s leading, we encourage you to follow the example of our leaders and give courageously, sacrificially and in proportion to how much the Lord has blessed you and your family.

WHEN CAN WE MOVE IN?

We hope to celebrate Christmas 2017 in our new home. But this relies on access to the required funds (raised and borrowed), and also on Council permits, uninterrupted construction and so on. Please pray that God bless every aspect of this process so we can have an exciting Christmas Celebration in 2017 and ultimately a place we can call HOME.
