FGA Kids
|
|
This year, God is taking FGA Kids into bigger and better things as we work alongside our church’s vision and new Sunday program. To do this we have prepared a Kidzone program, tailored specially for children of our church leaders, and are also running two services of fully equipped and energised Sunday School programs.
This is how our launch worked...
7:30 a.m: A team of us set up and prepared for Kidzone.
8:30 a.m: Our first kids arrived for Kidzone.
9:15 a.m: Kidzone children dismissed
9:30 a.m: First Service program kicked off with:
X-site: Tailored for 2-6 year old children.
KIDZONE: This is the exclusive program for leaders’ children. If you are a leader’s child come and join us for an early morning of fun. Non-leaders’ children may attend for an entry cost of $2 each. At Kidzone, we have the newest Nintendo Wii, a very Hungry Hippo, mega blocks and many, many more fun things. We journey through the reading of the “Early Reader’s Bible”. There are discovery stations set up and a fun, energetic worship, just for the little ones.
N:gauge: Designed for Grades 2 to 6. We fill the classroom with tribal worship, tribal games and tribal discussion. It’s a cell based Sunday School and kids have a great time mucking around with their Tribe Leader.
11:00 a.m: First Service children dismissed.
11:30 a.m: Second Service FGA Kids started off with:
X-site: Lil’ K is an exciting new multimedia series that we run with the kids. It engages the younger children in an exciting journey of discovering God.
N:gauge: Primary school kids are swamped in this new interactive and highly multimedia curriculum designed to excite and engage kids in God’s word.
1:00 p.m. Second Service children dismissed.
Launch Feedback
On our first day we had 9 children at our Kidzone program and a total of 70 kids, with 32 teachers across two services (our aim is to maintain a high child to teacher ratio).
There were many more kids in our First Service than the Second Service but I believe all the children had a great time. About 10 children attended both the Kid’s Services.
Feedback from the leaders and parents has been very positive. Our success was made possible by the great team of leaders in both the N: gauge classes, Melinda Chee and her team at First Service X-site, and Scott Tan and his team at Second Service X-site.
Special thanks to God and all my leaders. I trust the Lord will continue to grow each of them as people and as leaders.
Preparing Our Kids' Ministry Leaders
On February 1, the FGA Kids Ministry team met up as a team for the first time for 2007. New and old leaders, young and old, gathered together; we had 95% attendance out of our 33 registered leaders.
The time started off more like a games arcade than a meeting as we tried the new Nintendo Wii for the first time. There were also various board games that we had to familiarise ourselves with for the coming year. Sumptuous finger food was served. So the night started off in a relaxed atmosphere, with food and lots of fun and laughter.
After all the fun and games, Sonja, our new “amazing and capable” (Quoted, Daniel Lee ) Kids Pastor briefed us on the coming year, sharing her vision for 2007 and motivating us with God’s word, on being Excellent for Christ. Keean and I (Daniel) believe we are really in for a big year for FGA Kids, as we believe that God has great plans for our Kid’s Ministry.
Not only were the classrooms going to be given complete makeovers, but so too our Kid’s programs. Sonja walked us through the two big programs we are running in FGA Kids this year, ‘Kidmo’ for Second Service older kids (N:gauge) and ‘Lil’ K’ for the Second Service younger kids (X-site). They are both highly interactive and multimedia intensive programs. It definitely looks like we are heading towards an exciting year! We had lots of fun and laughter and finished the night charged up, inspired and excited for what is ahead of us in Kid’s Ministry.
