This year FGA Melbourne has looked at different expressions of biblical Wisdom. We have explored the traditional wisdom books of James, Proverbs and Job as well as releasing God’s wisdom through exercising the prophetic gift. As we are leading up to Christmas, we will look at the wisdom of hospitality. Hospitality is a core value of the Kingdom of God as it is at the very heart of who he is. Immanuel, God with us (Matt 1:23) abiding in us.

In this series we will see the biblical view of hospitality is not the secular definition written as “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests or visitors”. Rather, the Greek text the word for “hospitable” is the compound word philoxenoi. “Philo” is from the verb phileo meaning “love” and xenos refers to a “stranger.” Biblical hospitality means showing love towards a stranger. Through Christ’s coming in the flesh we are no longer strangers to God. How will we welcome him and how can we make a difference to extend that welcome to others?
