In church circles, we often use a traditional approach to discipleship that mostly focuses on spiritual disciplines such as Bible study, prayer, worship, fellowship and service. These are core to one’s spiritual growth and must not be neglected. However, these spiritual disciplines alone do not necessarily affect transformations needed for emotional health and maturity. Due to the interconnected nature of our being, stagnation in our emotional health can stunt our spiritual growth.

This Inner Life Series examines what goes on inside of us—our soul and our emotional health—and how it impacts our spiritual growth. This includes our thoughts, emotions, memories, decisions, hopes, dreams, hurts, opinions, attitudes, beliefs, sense of purpose and values.
